While New Jersey’s cannabis market has experienced significant growth, with retail sales nearing $1 billion last year, consumers continue to face steep prices that are among the highest in the nation. Despite the addition of numerous dispensaries, prices for cannabis products remain substantially higher than regional counterparts, sparking debate and legislative initiatives aimed at providing relief.
High Costs For NJ Cannabis Users
Chris Goldstein, a regional organizer for NORML, conducted an extensive survey of nearly 130 online dispensary menus earlier this month. His findings underscore the luxurious pricing levels persistent in both the medical and adult-use markets. According to a Heady NJ article written by Goldstein, the lowest price for an ounce of flower still commands a hefty $100-$120, primarily for ground or shake products which are often of lower quality.
