Amnesia Haze Auto – Haze can be sooo fast! Barneys Farm strain review
Amnesia Haze Auto – Haze can be sooo fast!
Barney’s Farm strain story
When Amnesia Haze Auto was released a few years ago, Barney’s Farm spoke of “one of the most exciting releases that Barney’s Farm has put out in a while.” No wonder because it had been a burning desire of many fans of the multiple award-winning strain classic Amnesia Haze to get a chance to grow it as an accelerated auto version, and also autoflowering genetics aficionados, in general, had reason to jubilate. The mother plant used by Barney’s for this hybrid stems back to the original Amnesia Haze genetics created by Soma, who had bestowed it on the Barney’s Farm Lab in the early noughties, with Barney’s Breakfast Bar then taking the crown of the High Times Cannabis Cup 2004 using Amnesia Haze, which carries the genes of landraces from Southeast Asia (Thai, Cambodian, Laotian), Jamaican Haze, and Afghani/Hawaiian. Crossed with Barney’s proven Super Auto #1 plant, Amnesia Haze was successfully transformed into an autoflowering version with a sativa share of 80%. When under cultivation, Amnesia Haze Auto makes no secret of its Haze ancestry – plants are growing taller than those of many other auto varieties, inside usually about one meter, outside up to 1.5 meters. She can produce impressive yields, up to 600 grams per square meter in a grow room, which is not uncommon and can be accomplished within a life cycle of merely 65 to 70 days. The big and dense buds are adorned by many orange pistils and give forth that typical delicious Amnesia Haze scent characterized by earthy and citrusy notes, with an additional touch of pine emerging in its fresh taste.
The veg stage: Amnesia Haze Auto floors the accelerator
Autoflowering fan Ellis D. was curious about Amnesia Haze Auto’s performance abilities and placed one feminized seed into the starting block. Which germinated in the best fashion; after a little less than three days, the seedling came bursting through the surface – the auto race was on. Vegetative development was quick; the Amnesia Haze Auto plant floored the accelerator right from the beginning and pushed out its first lateral branches early, with several more following soon after. Initial shade leaves were considerably broader than Ellis D. had expected about the strain’s sativa-dominant genetic makeup, but they became more slender with every new set of leaves.
The flowering stage: A rocket takes off
The plant stood 28 cm tall when, after about 2.5 weeks, female preflowering began. Amnesia Haze Auto also cruised at speed with its flower production; before long, many longish flower candles evolved, exhibiting a very authentic Haze look, not entirely hiding their autoflowering nature. In the center of the plant, an actual rocket took off – its head bud developed into a mighty hunk, as reported by Ellis D. after 60 days: “This strain takes me. The head bud has become impressively fat! It is also super dense, and so are the plant’s many side tops surrounding it further down. Looking at the dense resin formation, it strikes me that the trichomes are very short-stalked so that these crystalline buds, endowed with a high calyx-to-leaf ratio, appear like sprayed in resin drips. My elation is also due to the fact not only does the buds’ look remind me very much of Amnesia Haze, but also their scent – just as described by Barney’s Farm, harmoniously, earthy and citrusy notes blend in for a wonderful aroma, with that earthy element being quite coniferous already in the smell. After 68 days, more than 80% of flower hairs had turned red-orange so that Ellis D. regarded his Amnesia Haze Auto plant – that had maintained an excellent scaffold of branches until the end – as fully mature: “In due time after, for Haze genetics, a very sporty, racy auto ride, it has crossed the finish line with a final height of 92 cm, that’s great!”
A significant yield of buds with a distinct visual and olfactory stamp of Haze
Likewise, the dry bud yield was really great. In this regard, it was optimistic, and Ellis D. found it proven true some weeks later – 81 grams are a credit to any plant with many Haze genes. That voluminous head bud alone weighed in at 28 grams. Ellis D. said, “In a dried state, with their countless little resinous calyxes, the buds present themselves in a beautiful Haze style, too. Their aroma has been fine-tuned to perfection after slight fermentation while drying; fragrance-wise, it’s also all about Haze. This Amnesia Haze Auto weed possesses a bittersweetness that evokes a dark chocolate association in me, coupled with a slight hint of pine and a pinch of lemon. This delicious flavour will certainly make for a deluxe taste experience!”
The sampling session: Amnesia Haze Auto (pleasantly) raises Ellis D. hackles
When Ellis D. had loaded his Crafty-Vaporizer with 0.5g Amnesia Haze Auto and heated it, his eagerly awaited first sampling session was ready to begin. The taste quickly fulfilled Ellis D.’s high expectations: “Truly impressive, not a trace of auto acerbity, but nothing else than top-notch Haze indulgence! Finely composed, it reflects all those olfactory aspects already described in an unobtrusive yet full-bodied manner and with a long stay on the palate. I seriously cannot imagine any other autoflowering strain could convey an authentic Haze flavor in a better way! The same was true in terms of effect – it took Amnesia Haze Auto only two tokes to raise Ellis D.’s hackles pleasantly… he felt a strong sativa uplift, a fresh tingling kick took hold of him, and with every additional hit stimulated him more and more, he got released from his previous slackness and became both mentally and physically brisk and elated. “Over more than 1.5 hours, Amnesia Haze Auto provided plenty of activating sativa energy and acted like a fresh wind, instantly blowing away fatigue and listlessness”, Ellis D. rejoiced afterward.
Ellis D.‘s final verdict: A perfect auto adaption
“Haze can be sooo fast – Barney’s Farm has greatly revved Amnesia Haze with this perfect auto adaption. Haze and autoflowering aficionados will surely take as much pleasure in this variety as I did. Once again, it was a compelling, fabulous BF auto experience from start to finish!”
