Delaware Sold $625,000 Worth of Adult-Use Cannabis During First Weekend of Sales

Licensed cannabis stores in Delaware sold over $903,000 worth of product during the state’s first weekend of adult-use sales, officials said.
Adult-use sales formally launched on Friday, August 1, and the total for the weekend included $625,000 in adult-use products — which, based on the 15% excise tax, earned the state $93,750 in cannabis tax revenue — and over $278,000 in medical sales.
Gov. Matt Meyer (D) said the sales numbers show “that our state is ready — and eager — for a well-regulated, responsible market,” and that the launch “reflects our commitment to growing Delaware’s economy, strengthening our communities, and prioritizing public health.”
“Delaware’s transition to adult-use cannabis sales has exceeded expectations. More than $900,000 in sales over the first three days reflects not only strong consumer demand, but also the readiness and professionalism of our licensed operators to serve the public safely and responsibly.” — Marijuana Commissioner Josh Sanderlin, in a press release
Products included just over $509,042.59 in cannabis flower sales, which was the largest product category with 56% of total products, plus $233,267.82 in vaporizers (26% of total sales), and $123.768.00 in edibles (14% of total sales).
“Now, we have a real opportunity to reinvest this revenue directly into neighborhoods across our state, ensuring Delaware becomes a national model for cannabis quality, innovation, and fairness,” the governor said.
