Metrc Enters Track-And-Trace Cannabis Contract With A Tribal Government Via Partnership With California Native American Tribe
Metrc, a U.S.-based provider of cannabis regulatory technology systems, announced on Wednesday a new contract with the Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians, a federally recognized Native American tribe located in Southern California.
The deal represents the first track-and-trace contract with a Tribal government, Metrc said in a press release.
Why It Matters
Metrc said it will support the regulation of Twenty-Nine Palms’ cannabis market. The tribe has exercised its sovereign authority to implement a regulatory framework providing for the licensing of commercial cannabis activities on Tribal lands.
