California State Fair Expands Cannabis Presence With New Sales And Consumption Policies

The California State Fair will allow on-site cannabis sales and consumption for the first time in U.S. history.

The 17-day event, starting on July 12 in Sacramento, will feature a marijuana dispensary managed by Embarc. Lauren Carpenter, co-founder of Embarc, emphasized the importance of this initiative.

“Hosting cannabis sales and consumption is a groundbreaking milestone in destigmatization,” Carpenter said.

Enhanced Educational Programs and Competitions

This year, the fair will expand its educational cannabis exhibit and cultivation awards competition, initially launched in 2022. The expansion results from legislation signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom, which permits licensed cannabis events.
