Florida Leaders React After Recreational Marijuana Amendment Falls Short

The Florida recreational marijuana amendment failed Tuesday – and the internet lit up in response.

Amendment 3 would have allowed those 21 years old and up to possess up to three ounces of marijuana or five grams in concentrated form.

It turned into the most expensive ballot measure battle in the nation, and opposing sides presented sharply contrasting pictures of Florida’s future should the marijuana measure have passed.

Trulieve CEO Kim Rivers looks to future

Trulieve spent a fortune to get Amendment 3 to pass. Florida’s largest medical marijuana operator contributed the vast majority of the more than $150 million received by Smart & Safe Florida, the group running that pro-legalization campaign.
